About Us
Langleys has offices in both Lincoln and York, two major regional centres in the East Midlands, Yorkshire and Humberside. The firm has enjoyed substantial growth over the past five years and in spite of the challenging economic conditions continues to be recognised as a prominent legal practice in the region.
Of significance is the achievement of the firm’s strategy to extend its reach beyond the regional centres of York and Lincoln. In addition to being a recognised dominant player within these centres, the firm has successfully penetrated the commercial hubs of both Leeds and Nottingham as well as the surrounding regions of the rest of Yorkshire, Humberside and the East Midlands.
With the aid of first class communication systems and video conferencing as well as efficient team management, the teams in the respective offices of both Lincoln and York do offer true collaborative working. All our lawyers work regularly from both offices as the work dictates. We are able to field substantial strength and depth in all our key sectors over a wide and expanding geographical area.
The Firm
The firm has combined a solid reputation, built up over generations, with the best of modern services designed to meet the most exacting requirements of business and individuals. Its robust management structure enables the firm to respond to, and anticipate, the opportunities for alternative business models as well as the flexibility to adapt to the developing economic environment.
The firm is continuing its ambitious and focused strategy to develop the practice over the next two years, having adjusted this to take account of the changed financial landscape. The firm has already commenced preparation to take advantage of benefits offered by alternative business models and is in a good position to enhance key sectors of its business through strategic expansion.
An initial part of the firm’s development strategy has been realised through the successful merger in 2007 with a respected private client York-based practice. As a consequence, the quality of the firm’s agricultural and private client base has been further enhanced.
The firm has continued to extend the efficiency benefits of its IT platform throughout the practice and will develop this further to put the firm’s e-commerce offering at the forefront of its services.
Langleys has successfully achieved re-recognition by Lexcel and Investors in People.
Types of work undertaken
The firm has divided its business into four key divisions: Commercial, Private, Insurance and Residential Property. Each division focuses on its individual strategy as well the operational development of its services. This structure ensures that the services we provide are responsive to client needs and market developments. The teams are organised to work collaboratively between offices giving clients a seamless and cost-effective service. The linking between teams to cover overlap within the business sectors has been considerably enhanced through the implementation of case management and continually refining workflow.
Commercial
The division covers all services to business, including corporate, dispute resolution, regulatory, employment, finance, real estate and construction. It is enjoying a fast growing reputation for practical and responsive commercial advice supported by the wide ranging experience of all members of the teams. Currently the finance, employment and dispute resolution units are experiencing strong demand, particularly for their commercial advice in assisting businesses during troubled times. New key developments include the establishment of specialist teams in regulatory, data protection, including managing technological risk, and in the equine and food sectors.
Insurance
