Thanks to the hospitality of JSR farms, Southburn, Driffield, and in particular Philip Huxtable, the Managing Director of JSR Arable, a party of farmers, land agents and professional friends joined Andrew Fearn and members of the Langleys Agricultural team on a farm visit and tour last month.
Blessed with the usual Wolds weather of a cold wind and sunshine, the tour of JSR’s Southburn Farm included fields, streams, recently harvested willow and SSSI’s, including one of the most northerly chalk streams in Yorkshire.
Philip Huxtable was an excellent host, answering every question put to him, often extolling the virtues of pig slurry, and showing the results with some excellent field results.
