Bottomley Distillers is a family-owned, Lincolnshire-based gin distillery producing the award-winning Pin Gin. Having grown exponentially since being founded in 2016, they were approached by Next Frontier Brands with a merger proposal. Next Frontier Brands is a leading hemp-based beverage, beauty and wellness company, headquartered in the US and with offices across Europe, Hong Kong and New Zealand.
Bottomley co-founders, Alan Bottomley and Amy Conyard, decided that a merger would be the perfect catalyst to continue their growth trajectory and asked us to advise them on the terms of the deal. The merger will serve to further this growth while maintaining the ethos of a family run business.
For the family, the local community remains central to their work, and adapted their small distillery to commercially produce 15,000 litres of hand sanitizer to support NHS services and other charities through the Covid-19 pandemic.
Reflecting on their success, Amy said: “We could have never imagined that we would achieve what we have in just four years. We have worked tirelessly to build relationships county and countrywide and are immensely proud of being an integral part of putting Lincolnshire on the distillery map. We cannot wait for what the future holds with Next Frontier Brands and look forward to growing with them!”
The merger will allow them to continue their growth with the support, resources and global distribution platform of a global partner. In the short term, they will move from their current space to a new one more than ten times the size to keep up with increased demand and production rates.
Dean Draper, Next Frontiers European Managing Director, has high hopes for the Distillery, adding: “We will use Next Frontiers’ expertise and international distribution platform to turn Pin Gin into a global brand.”
They will continue to operate under the name Bottomley Distillers, while Next Frontier Brands intends to create new jobs locally and invest at least £5m in the company over the next 24 months.
