  • the preparation of Lasting Powers of Attorney for both financial affairs and health and welfare decisions.

She has a strong private client practice with clients nationwide including landed estates, farming families, business owners and high net worth individuals. She regularly deals with Inheritance Tax reviews and succession planning to ensure clients protect their wealth and businesses for future generations while making use of valuable tax reliefs and exemptions.

Amy also acts as a professional Trustee on a number of family trusts and deals with other professional and non-professional Trustees to ensure the wishes of the person who created the trust are adhered to and the needs of the beneficiaries are met.

Amy notes her key strengths as being approachable, thorough and having the ability to communicate complex, technical matters in a clear and concise way.

Recent examples of Amy's experience

Recent examples of Amy's experience include:

  •  Advising high net worth clients on the preparation of their Wills with consideration of assets abroad and other cross border and multi-jurisdictional issues
  •  Advising entrepreneurs, business owners and family businesses on succession planning with particular expertise in work that combines private and commercial assets
  •  Advice provided to landed estate clients around inheritance tax and succession planning along primogeniture lines.
  •  Advising the trustees and executors in relation to an estate including a large interest in a farming partnership. As a result of the advice and careful planning, utilising the recycling of Business Relief between spouses, there was no Inheritance Tax to pay.
  • Advising clients on the creation of lifetime settlements to provide security for future generations and tax planning resulting in the mitigation of Inheritance Tax and the hold over of Capital Gains Tax.

Personal interests

Amy is keen on anything outdoors involving walking/hiking (usually with her husband, two dogs and occasionally accompanied by two teenagers), mountain biking or horse riding. She also enjoys a good DIY project either indoors or out and can often be found pulling down walls, building decking or upcycling furniture.
