About Helen

Helen is a senior paralegal in the Family team, having joined the firm in 2014. She studied law at Leeds Metropolitan University and graduated with First Class Honours. She went on to receive a Masters Degree in ‘Professional Legal Practice’ from The University of Law and graduated in November 2019 with a Distinction, having focussed on ADR in Family Law. Helen advises on a wide range of matters involving divorce and separation, finances and issues relating to child arrangements with a particular interest in surrogacy cases.

Expressing a strong desire to help people from a young age, Helen utilised her compassion, pairing it with her passion for the study and practice of law to build a successful career as a paralegal. 

Being able to use her knowledge to provide support and guidance to help her clients through some of their most challenging times is a privilege Helen describes as the most rewarding aspect of her role.

Recent examples of Helen's experience

  • Acting for the Wife in relation to financial remedy proceedings conducted in the Arbitration process where both parties were based in the UAE, and successfully negotiating a financial settlement providing the client with the lion’s share of the capital assets and a substantial spousal maintenance order.
  • Acting for a wife in financial remedy proceedings where the parties had been separated for over 9 years and successfully negotiating a settlement providing for a transfer of the family home to the client, pension sharing order and ongoing spousal maintenance.
  • Acting for a husband in acrimonious financial remedy proceedings and achieving an agreed settlement providing the client with an immediate clean break.
  • Advising the wife in relation to the drafting of a complex financial settlement and securing this by way of a sealed Court Order, involving jointly owned properties and provision for the parties to retain a life interest to live in the properties following the death of the other.
