Lisa Gray

Chartered Legal Executive, Senior Associate

About Lisa

Lisa works in our private client department and has over 15 years’ experience in private client work, specialising in wills, probate, powers of attorney, personal injury trusts and Court of Protection work. The majority of Lisa’s time is spent as a Court of Protection appointed deputy, managing large compensation awards for numerous clients with brain injuries.

Lisa qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2004 while working with Sills & Betteridge Solicitors, where she worked for 10 years before moving on to join our firm in 2006. She became a Senior Associate in 2015.

Lisa has completed several professional development courses and qualified as a Trust and Estate Practitioner in 2011. Lisa won Taxation of Trusts and Estates Student of the Year,  STEP Excellence Awards 2012.

Court Of Protection

Lisa specialises in the general management of numerous clients’ financial affairs, to include large compensation awards, as a professional deputy.  Lisa has experience in applications regarding statutory wills, loans and gifts and applications for authority to buy and sell property, to include applications for the appointment of a new trustee where required.

Lisa also deals with applications for lay deputies, to include applications for family members to be appointed to act as financial deputies for their loved ones, and all associated applications.

Lasting Powers of Attorney

Lisa specifically specialises in areas where clients’ capacity may be deteriorating, whereby Lisa liaises closely with welfare professionals in assisting with setting up Lasting Powers of Attorney wherever possible.

Personal Injury Trusts

When clients have been awarded compensation arising out of a personal injury claim, if those monies were paid over to them directly, their means tested benefits could be affected. Lisa advises clients in setting up personal injury trusts to contain those awards, with a view to protecting their means tested benefits.

Wills & Probate

Perhaps, because it involves a subject, we least like to think about, many of us never get around to making a will, despite it being one of the most important documents you could ever need. Lisa specialises in making wills and also deals with the administration of estates.

Awards and Accreditations

  • Lisa qualified as a Trust and Estate Practitioner
  • Member of STEP - Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners

Recent feedback from clients

  • As a case manager, I have worked with several Financial Deputies over the years and it is my experience that Lisa delivers an incomparable service.  Lisa whole-heartedly puts the client’s needs and best interests at the centre of her practice.  She establishes highly effective working relationships with her clients and all professionals involved in the client’s care and rehabilitation, is very approachable and quick to respond to queries or requests for information.  She works collaboratively with all rehab team members and is well respected for her supportive, friendly, professional manner, her efficiency and her ability to remain calm and considered in challenging circumstances.
  • I and my team have worked with Lisa for over 15 years and she has always been approachable and helpful and put client’s needs first. Lisa has a very good knowledge of neurological injuries and how they impact on clients and their families lives. She has empathy in difficult situations and, whilst she is professional at all times, she really does care about her clients (and also the Case Managers she is working with).  Lisa always responds to emails and telephone calls quickly and she promotes a real sense of teamwork between herself, client’s and case managers. She is very supportive of everyone.  I would not hesitate to recommend Lisa to clients.

Service expertise

Court Of Protection

When it comes to the care of our loved ones, ensuring that decisions are made in their best interests is always a priority. If a family member can no longer make their own decisions regarding their finances and other affairs, our Court of Protection solicitors can help.

Lasting Powers of Attorney

A Lasting Power of Attorney is an extremely important document. It allows you to choose someone you trust to make decisions on your behalf, should you lack mental capacity in the future to make those decisions yourself.  They are vitally important documents that will give you and your family confidence at what will often be a very difficult time.
