Are you entitled to a refund for registering an Enduring or Lasting Power of Attorney?

If you registered an Enduring Power of Attorney or a Lasting Power of Attorney made in England or Wales between 1 April 2013 and 31 March 2017 you may be able to re-claim part of the registration fee.

You can make a claim if you are the Donor or an Attorney.

Claims can be made online or over the telephone (0300 456 0300) and will take up to 12 weeks to be processed.  You will need a copy of the Power of Attorney and the Donor’s bank details.  The claim must be submitted by 31 January 2021.

The refund will be paid to the Donor.

The amount of the refund will depend on when you paid the registration fee.  You will also receive 0.5% interest on this amount.

If you paid a reduced fee you will be entitled to half the refund due.
